In 1186, Lahore was conquered by the Ghurid sultan, Muhammad of Ghor, with its Ghaznavid ruler, Khusrau Malik, imprisoned and later executed. Sultan Mahmud and his forces attacking the fortress of Zaranj in 1003 CE.
