Yang and his wife, Akiko Yamazaki (also a Stanford graduate), are active philanthropists. They support a wide range of programs at Stanford, and are the lead donors of the San Francisco Asian Art Museum expansion. Yang holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
Yang is married to Japan-born Akiko Yamazaki, who was raised in Costa Rica. They met in 1992 during a 6-month Stanford exchange program.
