Megan Elizabeth Laura Diana Follows (/ ˈ m iː ɡ ən / MEE-gən; born March 14, 1968) is a Canadian-American actress and director. She is known for her role as Anne Shirley in the 1985 Canadian television miniseries Anne of Green Gables and its two sequels.
Changed her stage name from Dawn O'Day to Anne Shirley after playing the lead character of the same name in the film Anne of Green Gables (1934). Longtime friends with actress Geraldine Fitzgerald , Anne attended a taping of Fitzgerald's guest appearance on The Golden Girls (1985) .

Amybeth McNulty (born 7 November 2001) is an Irish actress. She is known for her starring role as Anne Shirley in the CBC/Netflix drama series Anne with an E (2017–2019), based on the 1908 novel Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery.
Especially disappointing was her long-anticipated "Green Gables" sequel Anne of Windy Poplars (1940) , which received very lackluster reviews. The still-young actress finished on top, however, opposite Dick Powell in the classic movie mystery Murder, My Sweet (1944) .
