To bring three dormant textile mills back into production, the Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation (BTMC) plans to lease them out, according to official sources. The three mills are located in Chittagong, Kurigram and Sylhet, and have been idle for a long time.

Over 84% of the export earning comes from Textiles & Textile related products. Around 85-90% yarn demand for knit RMG & 35-40% yarn demand for woven RMG are met by Primary Textile Sector (PTS).
