The discovery and decipherment of the Caucasian Albanian alphabet is an epochal event for Udins. For me, getting a chance to accompany Georgian decipherer Zaza Aleksidze and Azerbaijani historian Farida Mammadova this past May to St. Catherine's Monastery on Mt. Sinai, Egypt, was an experience of a lifetime.

Theoretically, the Udi language, which has a complicated phonological system [more than 50 letters], as well as the other languages of Caucasian highlands will have the possibility of using the ancient Caucasian Albanian alphabet, instead of either the Russian or Latin script which are brimming with diacritical marks.
