Oct 27, 2003 · Adolf VII von Schauenberg was the son of Johann II von Schauenberg and Margaret Christofsdottir, Princess of Denmark. He married Luitgard von Mecklenburg, daughter of Johann III Herzog von Mecklenburg, in 1312. He died in 1315, killed. He gained the title of Count of Holstein.

On 18 April 1417 Hedvig was married to Prince Balthasar of Mecklenburg, who died of the plague in 1421. In 1423 she was married to Dietrich, Count of Oldenburg. From her second marriage she had the following children: Christian I of Denmark (1426–1481), who succeeded his father as Count of Oldenburg and Delmenhorst.

Schauenburg Castle was built in the 10th century by Duke Berthold II of Zähringen and was first mentioned in a written text in 1120. The Palatinate, Gottfried von Calw (d 1131, Count of Calw, Count-Palatine of bei Rhein, 1113–1126) came into possession of the castle through his marriage to Liutgard von Zähringen.
