Actual Chillwave (weird, dreamy 80s-like music with nostalgic themes of childhood summer vacations that sounds like it's being played from a melted cassette, produced mainly by college-aged millennials circa 2010) died/fizzled out of existence a long time ago, we're only left with an ambiguous and meaningless label now ("chill" music that's also "wavy" somehow)
I realize a lot of it's done on vintage hardware, but I know you can get that washed out dreamy sound on just a macbook. We also have a Monopoly synth, ableton, and a keyboard and drum pad and a sequencer. I'm talking bands like Teen Daze, Casa del Mirto, Toro y Moi, Washed Out, Neon Indian, etc. And I want to work a lot with sample-based music.
