They met during a theatre workshop that she was giving when he was a 15-year-old student and she was a 39-year-old teacher.
She has three children from her first marriage (Sébastien, born 1975; Laurence, born 1977; and Tiphaine, born 1984) and seven grandchildren. She met Emmanuel Macron at a theatre workshop she was running at Lycée La Providence in Amiens. They were married in Le Touquet on 20 October 2007.
