False Creek ( French: Faux ruisseau) is a short narrow inlet in the heart of Vancouver, separating the Downtown and West End neighbourhoods from the rest of the city. It is one of the four main bodies of water bordering Vancouver, along with English Bay (of which it is an inland extension), Burrard Inlet, and the Fraser River.

The short, narrow piece of saltwater was central to First Nations who lived in the area prior to contact, it was an important industrial hub in the city's early days, and it's become a tourist and residential feature with multiple important and iconic places around it.

May 6, 2022 · False Creek Flats, located in Vancouver, Canada, was originally an estuary where salt and fresh waters mixed, creating a productive ecosystem. It had a riparian vegetation that acted as a buffer for both run-off and tidal waters, and fresh water streams flowed into the area, creating natural water filtration and flushing.
Northeast False Creek has a long history as a vibrant, active space used for cultural gatherings and activities. Connected to neighbouring Chinatown, it was part of the Coast Salish Empire and the heart of Vancouver’s black community along Hogan’s Alley.
