ASU FIDM Museum’s 15,000-piece collection represents over 400 years of fashion history, including haute couture and ready-to-wear, world dress, film costumes, accessories, jewelry, textiles, fragrance packaging and ephemera.
Contents. The museum is located on the ground floor of the Los Angeles campus of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, and houses a collection of over 12,000 costumes, accessories and textiles from the 18th century through the present day, including film and theater costume.
FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising was founded in 1969. Staff from the Fashion Design Department assembled a fledgling Study Collection for hands-on classroom use in 1973. The nonprofit FIDM Museum and Library, Inc. was established in 1978.
Our campus features study spaces designed to inspire creativity and connect students with the many vibrant industries headquartered in Los Angeles. We are located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles just steps from the Fashion District, The Broad Museum of Art, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Crypto.com Arena, L.A. LIVE, and the Grammy® Museum.
