Fern Canyon is a canyon in the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park in Humboldt County, California, western United States. The park is managed in cooperation with other nearby redwoods state parks and Redwood National Park. It is named for the ferns growing on the 50-foot (15 m) high walls, through which runs Home Creek.

Nope, it’s just the Fern Canyon Trail in Redwoods National and State Park, one of the best hikes to experience the stunning redwood forests of Northern California.
Fern Canyon is a 1-mile ‘lolly-pop’ loop with an elevation gain of 150 feet taking at least 30 minutes. Visitors also have the option to hike a quarter of a mile into the canyon and turn around for a shorter adventure. Bring your water shoes! There is no trail inside of Fern Canyon and you must cross the stream to experience the canyon.

It includes the coastal region, a large open prairie near the Prairie Creek visitor’s center, the Newton B. Drury Scenic Drive, and an old-growth forest. With so much variety, I look forward to coming back to explore more of the area.
