Feb 6, 2024 · Gadsden. Gadsden Gadsden, in the northeastern corner of Alabama, is the county seat of Etowah County. Gadsden is located in the mountainous Cumberland Plateau physiographic section, a dramatic geological setting that offers visitors such features as the 100-foot Noccalula Waterfall. The Coosa River runs through the center of the town.
Gadsden is a city in and the county seat of Etowah County in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is located on the Coosa River about 56 miles (90 km) northeast of Birmingham and 90 miles (140 km) southwest of Chattanooga, Tennessee. It is the primary city of the Gadsden Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of 103,931.

Cities. Gadsden. The first substantial white settlement in what is now Gadsden was a tiny town called Double Springs. It was begun by a mixed Indian-white settler named John Riley when he built his house near two springs around 1825. It became a stagecoach stop on the Huntsville-to-Rome route.
