Dec 11, 2016 · Governor’s Island is a tear-drop shaped peninsula on the north shore of Madison’s biggest lake and it is on the grounds of the mental health hospital. While the odd shape is a neat geological formation, it happens to feature a rare and quite pretty outcrop of sandstone, a short shelf of mini cliffs about 15’ tall running about 30 yards.

Governor's Island Loop. Try this 1.2-mile loop trail near Madison, Wisconsin. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 22 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking and running, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are April through January.

Apr 16, 2024 · It is almost 90 feet deep and spans 9,842 acres. Mendota has always been known for its perch fishing, many in the 7- to 10-inch size and some jumbos measuring 12 inches or more. During the hard-water season, perch will scatter and suspend throughout the water column from near the bottom to just under the ice.
