A corps of 15,000 men led by the king's deputy, Field Marshal Gustav Horn, Count of Pori, advanced along the Oder. Later, Horn's army was reinforced with 11,000 men under Major General Maximilian Teuffel, who by this time had abandoned the siege of Kolberg.
