Be careful, if the llama or parrot is on the playing field the compass will bring you to that. Can double click on animal icon to pause the animals return.

Expect this to be the most common. You can do a couple of things with this, the most useful for people looking to exploit/cheat are: Zoom the screen when ADS. Remove fog/rain/darkness entirely. Draw a crosshair on the screen. Modify the Depth Buffer to make things easier to see.
