    • Progression and Experience

The bloodline is the core of the progression system in Hunt: Showdown. Bloodline experience is acquired by leveling up hunters in Soul Survivor or Bounty Hunt, retiring high-level hunters, and finding Bloodline XP posters. After reaching rank 100 - the maximum rank - players gain the option to prestige, which resets their progress.

Gaining rank rewards players with various Traits, equipment unlocks (base weapon variants, consumables, and tools), and Hunt Dollars, depending on the rank. Upon reaching rank 100, players are awarded $1000 for every 25,000 bloodline XP that they earn. All equipment variants (including those for tools and consumables, such as the heavy knife and liquid fire bomb) that are not unlocked through bloodline progression are instead unlocked by using equipment from their respective trees. Detailed unlock trees and requirements for all equipment can be found in the Book of Weapons.

Experience in Hunt: Showdown is applied in a number of ways. The player's hunters may die, and their experience with it, but the player's bloodline retains some of that experience.

    Hunter and Bloodline XP

All XP that is earned in a match is hunter XP, which is applied to the player's hunter in the post-match mission summary screen. Upon reaching certain levels with a hunter, between 250-1000 bloodline XP is awarded, depending on the level. After a Hunter reaches level 50, the full sum of XP that is earned with that hunter is applied directly to the player's bloodline.

Retiring a hunter, which is possible only after hunters reach level 50, gives the player 1500 bloodline XP. Choosing the retire option presents the player with a confirmation screen that displays the total bloodline XP that will be rewarded. All equipment (that is not constrained by the contraband storage limit) is returned to the player's inventory.

Some envelopes award 500 bloodline XP, and those that award 1,000 Hunter XP will indirectly net the player some bloodline XP as well by progressing toward the hunter levels that award XP to the bloodline.

All Hunter XP progress occurs alongside weapon XP progress. All weapon XP is hunter XP, but not all hunter XP is weapon XP (e.g. bounty that is converted to hunter XP).
