I make different kinds of music and use different approaches. For vaporwave tracks, I dig for a LOT of samples and load them into the same Live project; I think that a typical project consists of about 200-300 sources. Then I slowly start to assemble them: just try out a few combinations, throwing stuff together and see what sticks.
