Oct 8, 2019 · IA-32 is a 32-bit ISA based on the original 16-bit 8086 architecture. Many of its instructions are 8086 instructions with extended operand size (from 16-bits up to 32-bits). However original 16-bit instructions are staying a part of 32-bit ISA.
