    This page documents the History of the PlayStation 4, including early rumors, development, the PlayStation 4 Announcement, release and future.

    Back in 2012 many rumors surfaced about Sony's upcoming console, the PlayStation 4. The rumors suggested that it would be always-connected and wouldn't allow used games similar to how the Xbox One was initially intended to be, before their u-turn. These rumors were of course false.     On February 1st 2013, Sony released a teaser for an event in New York on the 20th of February, 2013 for the "Future of PlayStation". This lead to speculation of the reveal of Playstation 4. One week before the event, leaked images of a redesigned DualShock 4 surfaced, featuring a touchpad and audiojack. These pictures were close but not exact to what was shown off. The differences are in the keys, and the overall squareness of the design, in comparison to the smooth circular desgn of the final Dualshock 4. Sony's Playstation 4 has been in developement since 2008, only a couple years after the high priced PS3 release.

    Sony revealed details about the PlayStation 4 however the console wasn't shown at all. They also announced Remote Play with the Vita. See "PlayStation 4 Features" for more details about the features of PlayStation 4.

    At E3, Sony unveiled the look of its console. Andrew House, announced that the PlayStation 4 will launch at a price point of $399, €399 and £349, compared to the Xbox One's launch price of $499, €499 and £429, will be available in "Holiday 2013".

    Shuhei Yoshida began Sony's conference with a demo of the PlayStaion 4's UI.

    Andrew House revealed that the PlayStation 4 will be available on November 15th in North America and November 29th in Europe.

    Sony announced that development of the PS4 started in 2008, just two years after the release of PS3. Sony released an intresting FAQ on the PlayStation Blog revealing some unanswered questions.[3]

    Due to high demand pre-orders for the consoles were halted numerous times.

    Many of the PS4's most anticipated games were delayed until 2014 including: Watch_Dogs, DriveClub and The Crew.

    Videos posted on Vine suggested that the DualShock 4 will be compatible with PC and Macs. All features will work apart from:The Touchpad, Light Bar and PS Button. Colin Moriarty tested the DualShock 4 on the PlayStation 3, all features that work with PC and Mac will be compatible with the PS3.

    PSN experienced many problems during the first days of PS4 due to many people trying to access the service causing the console to run slower than normal.

    PS4 wobbles if you press it down, the way to solve it is if you put Post-Its under it.

    A small amount of the hardware also had problems as the console had faulty HDMI ports. This stopped HDMI cables from fitting into the console properly causing a black screen.

    Images suggested that the console will feature a "Red Line of Death", however most reports were over exaggerated. The red line is just to show that the console is overheating and had nothing to do with the end of your consoles life.

    Following the launch of PlayStation 4, Sony released the PlayStation®App This app allowers the user to purchase games and movies from the PlayStation Store as well as look up trophies and send messages to others through PSN's messaging system.

    Sony's console became the fastest selling console ever in the UK.

    PSN experienced problems again and caused servers to run slow. Some PSN accounts were hacked causing people to loose over hundreds of Pounds and Dollars. Sony issued a statement saying that they will refund any lost money immediatly and urged people to change their passwords.

    Some rumors suggest that Sony may be developing VR headsets to bring gaming to life. Rumors suggests that a brand new Crash Bandicoot game could be making its way to PS4, however these rumours have been squashed as Activision haven't sold the rights of Crash Bandicoot to Sony, these are just speculation and rumours. Sony may integrate PlayStation TV which is a rumored upcoming service by Sony.[5] [6]

    A leaked bundle suggests that Sony may be releasing a PS4/Vita bundle called "The Ultimate Bundle", which will retail in the UK for "Under £500" and will be available "In time for Christmas"[7]

    A patent suggested that Sony are looking to redesign the PlayStation Move controller to work specifically with PS4, the new move controller will feature a brand new touchpad.[8]

    The Last of Us (Game Of The Year Edition) was leaked by Amazon US and could make an appearance on PS4 at a retail price of $59.99. No release date has been leaked, the date listed below is just a placeholder date. Also, Samuel is a jerk. (Just thought I'd let you know)
