- Rip Hunter. Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) created the Legends, though under false pretences. He brought the original eight members together as a group to fight against Vandal Savage, a brutal immortal dictator who will take over the Earth in 2166.
- Gideon. While not acknowledged as a member of the team for a while, the AI Gideon (Amy Louise Pemberton) has been with the team since the start. She originally served to give exposition and pilot the Waverider through time, but has developed more of a personality and an actual physical appearance as the story has gone on.
- Ray Palmer/The Atom. Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) was one of Rip Hunter’s first recruits for the Legends. Ray takes the opportunity to go traveling through the timeline, being one of the longest-serving members of the team.
- Sara Lance/White Canary. While she quickly becomes the captain of the Legends, Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) started off as just another member of the team. She resisted joining the team because of her bloodlust that came from being revived in the Lazarus Pit, leaving her to think that she couldn’t really be a hero.
