- Moscow. Moscow is the capital of Russia and the largest city in Europe, with over 12 million inhabitants. Since the 12th century Moscow has played a key role in global political, cultural and scientific events.
- St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg is Russia’s second largest city, home to over 5 million people. The country’s cultural capital, St. Petersburg was the cradle of the Russian Revolution, the seat of the imperial family for 300 years, and the starting point for many of Russia’s most famous writers and artists.
- Novosibirsk. With a population of over 1.6 million, Novosibirsk is Siberia’s largest city. Owing to expanding industrialisation, Novosibirsk grew rapidly with the turn of the 20th century and became a key point on the main transport route across Russia.
- Yekaterinburg. Russia’s fourth largest city is Ekaterinburg. Nearly as old as St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg is perched in the Urals on the border between Europe and Asia.

- Novosibirsk – 1.6 million. The largest city in Siberia and the third largest city in Russia, Novosibirsk is an important transport center. The history of the city is linked to the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway, and it is one of the most important stops on the road to Vladivostok.
- Yekaterinburg – 1.5 million. Now let’s move on to the Urals, the industrial heart of Russia. For centuries, people in this region have mined ore, coal, salt and malachite.
