As far as these syfy movies, which range from adequate to terrible, go this is better than most. It does have an intriguing premise, and starts off very well. Apr 19, 2011 · REVIEW: Mandrake is an above average adventure, fantasy, horror film from SyFy with an engaging cast, straightforward plot and an interesting monster to boot. The jungle locations keep the story plausible and the threat contained. The film benefits from multiple internal struggles and a corrupt benefactor that keeps causing trouble.

If you’ve seen one SyFy TV movie, you’ve seen them all. At least when it comes to style and budget. Which does mean the extra effort put into making Mandrake something is admirable.
