6 days ago · I recently bought an Orion vari-angle 20-60x 80mm spotting scope for use on Messier objects. This was ambitious because I'm under bright suburban skies. What I quickly learned is that the scope probably has an effective aperture closer to 60mm and doesn't have a sufficiently deep reach in my Bortle 6 sky to attempt a Messier hunt with it.
