As long as the bios is not the first Japanese one (ps2-100j)...

As an example Play! doesn't need an external PS2 BIOS to work. PCSX2 needs a PCSX BIOS folder. The Core Info section says to visit this link for more information. Most emulators that require a BIOS will usually say (!) Missing/Found, Required/Optional: in the firmware section and then will mention the BIOS that the emulator needs to function.
The bios files I can find don’t work, and this community talks a tremendous amount of shit to anyone even looking for working bios files. The link on the pcsx2 sub is a dead 404 error despite numerous people here just telling me to go look there.
