Most travelers fly into Cusco to begin their journey to the ruins of Machu Picchu, but it’s worthwhile spending a day in the Sacred Valley exploring Pisac.
It’s not hard to succumb to the charms of sunny Pisac, a bustling and fast-growing colonial village at the base of a spectacular Inca fortress perched on a mountain spur. Its pull is universal and recent years have seen an influx of expats and New Age followers in search of an Andean Shangri-la.
Overview. The Pisac Ruins is one of the most intact ancient Inca sites in Peru and a sample of the perfection of Inca constructions. It was built on top of a mountain that rises above the small town of Pisac; from here you can appreciate spectacular views and Inca ruins.
