Danny Thomas was a struggling young comic when he met Rose Marie Mantell (born Rose Marie Cassaniti), who had a singing career with her own radio show in Detroit, Michigan, and was the daughter of Marie "Mary" Cassaniti, a drummer and percussionist for "Marie's Merry Music Makers".
Rose Marie Thomas was a singer, a mother and a fundraising legend who helped build St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® in Memphis, Tennessee. She met her husband, Danny Thomas, a comedian and actor, in 1936 and they married in 1936. She was a Lady Commander with Star of Knights of the Holy Sepulchre and a life member of various organizations that supported childhood cancer research and care.
