A raw-boned native of Michigan with a flat-top haircut and a nose for adventure, Sessions started out in stock cars and supermodifieds before heading for USAC in the mid-60s.

Sessions was one of the most likable race drivers to come out of the state of Michigan and obtain national prominence. Born during the depression days of the middle thirties, Sam started racing outboard boats at the tender age of 14 and moved into stock cars in 1958 at the now defunct Hastings racetrack.

Jul 8, 2015 · Sammy Sessions (born 10 Sep 1935 Nashville, Michigan; died 17 Dec 1977 Alexandria, Minnesota). Continued in sprint cars for a number of years and also became a top snowmobile racer. He died when he suffered a heart-attack during a snowmobile race and subsequently crashed into a tree, dying instantly when a branch decapitated him.
