Data is given according to the 2021 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-Year Estimates, except for the American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands, for which the data comes from 2010, as ACS does not operate in these areas.

  3. Median household income is different from per capita personal income, which was $60,320 at the end of Q3 of 2020. This is $2,801 higher than in Q1 of 2020 and $3,728 higher than in Q3 of 2019. Average incomes by state range from $41,776 in Mississippi to $88,702 in the District of Columbia.
