Online play isn't too hard to find in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - it's the big yellow space in the main menu on the bottom right. But, there are a few things you need to know about online, including what you need to do to play with friends.

1.First, make sure your Nintendo Switch is connected to the internet. You'll need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

2.Use a hardline, if possible. Considering Smash Ultimate works with a peer-to-peer connection, Nintendo has suggested to purchase a LAN adapter to connect your Nintendo Switch directly to an ethernet cable for a more stable connection.

3.Select "Online" from the main menu select screen, then choose "Smash."

4.From here, you have three options:

•Quickplay: Choose this to play with random players around the globe. All your matches will be team battles against other players playing the same way. 2 v 2.

The only way to play with friends online is by using Battle Arenas. If you're already officially friends through your Nintendo Switch account, choose "Create Arena," and your friends will be able to find you through "Join Arena" then "Friends' Arenas."

If you aren't friends through the Nintendo Switch, you need to share your Arena ID. Then, anyone with the ID can join your Arena.

To find the Battle Arena ID, create an Arena. Then, click "Arena Settings" - it's the yellow icon in the top left of the screen next to the back arrow.

There, you'll be able to see your Battle Arena ID on the top right.
