Visiting a real estate agent, Samantha tries to get a viewing of a property in Shibuya, but is refused because the owner wouldn't rent it to her. Samantha is disappointed and comments that she'll take her business elsewhere then. As she leaves the place, Polina contacts her from her apartment and asks for advice on what to get for a present for her regular named Hasegawa. Upon returning to the Onyx bar, Samantha enters the locker room and runs into Malee, who claims to have been missing her hairbrush and was having an affair with the club owner, Duke. When Malee leaves, Samantha gets into an argument with Duke, who threatens to deport Samantha. The argument is broken up by Sato, who allows Samantha to leave without an issue. Afterward, Samantha goes tie shopping with Polina, who purchases an armadillo tie for Hasegawa. That night, Samantha finishes up a table, and right when she heads to the bar, she finds Malee there. Samantha tries to ask how she's doing but is hurried off to another table by Duke. Before Malee left, Samantha gave her words of encouragement and then learned from another hostess named Luna about some newbies, one with a fat wallet. Later, Samantha serves some drinks on a table until she's called over to Jake. Samantha then explains several hostess-related things to him and some names of her co-workers. When Sato arrives, Samantha immediately leaves Jake and heads straight to Sato's table. The two briefly discuss the mark on Sato's face until Jake arrives and starts conversing with Sato. Duke then called Samantha over and demanded to know why Jake was sitting at the table, and Samantha assured him that she had everything under control. At her home, Samantha puts cream on her face, counts some money in her possession, and stores it away.

Samantha sits at a table with Polina, who entertains Hasegawa and his associates with a tongue twister. Duke then approaches her and informs Samantha that a new customer has requested her and replaced her with another hostess named Momo. Heading to the new table, Samantha introduced herself in Japanese, but the man talked in English, calling himself Matsuo. The two would then discuss how Matsuo's name was similar to the famous Haiku artist Matsuo Basho and would each go on to mention one of his haiku. One night, Duke passes around the hostess' pay for that night, and Samantha is the 2nd top earner. She also stands up for Malee when Duke gets touchy with her. Later in the locker room, Samantha would console Malee, who was in a tough spot at the club due to various circumstances surrounding her life. She'd then confide in Malee that she's saving up to buy her own club one day and would consider bringing her along. In the bar area, Samantha sees that the Chiharu-Kai has brought dresses for sale for them all, and Sato approaches her after breaking up an argument between Polina and one of his men. He comments that none of the dresses there would look good on her and offers Samantha one that would in the locker room. There, Sato asks her to try on an orange dress, and when she does, Samantha decides to buy it. On the other hand, Sato claims it's not for sale and wants her to return it. Outside, Polina asks Samantha to join her going to a Host club, but she declines and parted ways with her, only to be met by Jake. They'd ride Samantha's motorcycle to a restaurant where Jake asks how she ended up in the Onyx bar. She answers she originally was an English Teacher and then wanted to "Fuck Tokyo". They'd continue to talk about a couple of their mutual interests from Japan until Samantha pressed Jake to ask the question that'd been on his mind all night. So Jake finally asks if she's a prostitute, and Samantha coyly details the prices for her services but alludes that it's a lie and that Jack was impertinent for the asking. Putting that aside, Samantha and Jake describe their backstories in a 15-second expat; Jake goes first and talks about his checkered family background. Samantha then talks about her political judge father and her drug-addict mother, but Jake calls her bluff and asks that he get one bit of truth from her. Hence, Samantha answers that she hasn't spoken to her family in four years. When their second round of drinks arrives, Samantha orders more food of the server's choice. Samantha was indirectly mentioned by a foul-mouthed Chiharu-Kai member who accused Sato of having sex with her once when he tried to sell a dress to her. One night, Samantha was on the phone with Polina in her apartment, talking to her about her day. Unknown to her, she was being spied on by Matsuo.
