      • Ridge earned a scholarship to Harvard University (B.S., 1967). In 1969, after his first year at Dickinson School of Law, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, he was drafted to serve in the Vietnam War. He became a staff sergeant in the army and won the Bronze Star for Valor, among other decorations.
