The 1-Day Unlimited Pass gives you Metrorail and Metrobus travel with no time restrictions. The pass is activated the first time the card is tapped and expires at the end of the operating day. Does not include parking.
For a typical tourist using the Washington DC Metro, your options in 2018 are: a 1-day pass for $14.75, a 7-day unlimited pass for $60.00, and a seven-day short ride pass for $38.50. The short ride pass only covers you for rides of up to $3.85 each (which is basically all non-peak fares and short peak fares).

One-Day Metro Pass: ($14.50) This Pass is valid for one day of unlimited Metro travel. The pass expires at the end of the operating day: 3:00 am on Friday-Saturday, and Midnight on Sunday-Thursday. 7-Day Fast Metro Pass: ($59.25) This Pass is valid for 7 consecutive days for unlimited Metro travel.

After selecting “Add Time,” you can choose a 1, 3, or 7 day unlimited pass, which cost $13, $28, and $58 respectively. Another good option for travelers is the 7 day short trip pass, which will cover any fare at an off peak time, or a peak time up to $3.85, and takes $2 off the fare for a Metrobus Express or airport shuttle.
