Feb 26, 2024 · MADISON (WKOW) -- Crews responded to the West Towne Mall around noon on Monday for a report of a fire. Dane County dispatchers told 27 News the call first came in as a vehicle fire. A 27 News crew on scene saw a truck had been badly burned.
UPDATE -- Madison police are searching for a small group of suspects who got into a fight inside West Towne Mall Saturday evening that ended with shots fired in the parking lot. The incident sent scared shoppers and mall workers out in the cold around 5:30 p.m. while investigators gathered evidence.

Upon leaving their fire station on Grand Canyon Drive, firefighters could see black smoke rising from above the mall, and updates from dispatch indicated there was a diesel delivery truck on fire.
