It is unnecessary to categorize the entire continent as Africa being unsafe, but which countries in Africa are safe and peaceful and which are dangerous? Does the answer correspond to wealth, with the richest and most developed African countries proving safer than Africa's poorest countries ?
The United Nations Human Development Index (HDI) shows Central African countries, including South Sudan and Chad, as having the lowest quality of life. The Hanke Misery Index, focusing on economic factors, lists Venezuela as the worst country to live in due to extreme inflation and unemployment.

- Central African Republic — 30.03. The country with the lowest standard of living for its citizens is the Central African Republic (CAR), according to the SPI.
