Musicology (from Greek μουσική mousikē 'music' and -λογια-logia, 'domain of study') is the scholarly study of music. Musicology research combines and intersects with many fields, including psychology, sociology, acoustics, neurology, natural sciences, formal sciences and computer science.

Musicology is a humanities discipline in which students analyze music from a cultural perspective. It plays a key role in a well-rounded music education.
“Musicology today encompasses the study of all music in all times and places using all different methods.” However, the principle distinction between the terms is that musicology studies the development of music through time, while ethnomusicology looks at music in any given culture.
Musicology offers undergraduates a Major and a Minor, with courses ranging across European and American music, including specialized courses in EDM, Motown, blues, medievalism, musicals, rock, punk, film music, sound studies, and performance studies, and studying music in relation to politics, gender, and postcolonialism.
