  4. Sep 27, 2021 · Learn the Design Fundamentals. This is absolutely the most important thing any painter can do. It will literally lay a foundation for everything that comes after it. If you don’t know how to make good shapes, manipulate values, develop color harmony, etc. then you won’t fully develop as a painter.

  5. Dec 28, 2021 · Here’s my recommended process for moving forward as a beginner. Learn the design fundamentals and learn how to implement them in your work (this takes time folks!). Make lots of paintings implementing the design fundamentals using the same medium. You can’t find a style if you can’t master a medium.

  6. Oct 24, 2023 · One series I found really helpful was Web Design 101: Free Full Course by Flux Academy. It taught me a lot about web design in an easy-to-understand way. These online courses have a ton of useful information, especially for people who are just starting out in design. Practice. Remember, the key to improvement is practice.

  7. The fundamentals can be intimidating at first, especially if you don't consider yourself an artist. But keep an open mind—there's a lot they can teach you about working with different assets and creating simple visuals from scratch. Watch the video to learn more about the fundamentals of design.
