About Us: Founded in 1984, The Zekelman Holocaust Center (The HC) first opened its doors on the campus of the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield as the Holocaust Memorial Center and relocated to the current award-winning building in 2004.

The expansion on the new site consists of an expanded Holocaust Center and two new museums, designed by Neumann/Smith Architecture. The Holocaust Memorial Center was renamed The Zekelman Holocaust Center in January 2022, recognizing $25 million of family donations. Mission
Now through May 31. This international memorial project honors the memory of the six million Jews – among them one-and-a-half million children – murdered in the Holocaust. The project offers the opportunity to remember them as individuals– one at a time – through the public reading of their names.
