Wild Horse Mesa (also known as San Pedro Mesa) covers about 75 square miles, a few miles south of San Luis, near New Mexico. According to the Spirit of the Wild Horse Foundation, the mesa area is home to 150 to 200 wild horses (mustangs), grouped in multiple small bands, roaming their separate grazing areas.
