Bristol, city, coextensive with the town (township) of Bristol, Hartford county, central Connecticut, U.S., on the Pequabuck River. The area, part of Farmington or Tunxis Plantation, was settled in 1727 and became known as New Cambridge.
It is small enough to cover in a day, but has enough attractions to make the visit worthwhile if you are in the area for a short time. There is a full water park with family pool, lazy river, wave pool, and multiple water slides, including the new "Venus Vortex".

In a capacious old factory I was dazzled by this wonderfully presented array of vintage carousel memorabilia. The museum holds many masterfully rendered horses, as well as lions, tigers, ducks, cows, giraffes and pigs.
