  1. Follow these steps: On the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering, and then click the Outline Numbered tab. Note: In Microsoft Office Word 2007 and Word 2010, click Multilevel List on the Home tab. Select one of the styles, for example, Chapter 1 (the last style choice). Click Customize.

  11. You can use section breaks to change the layout or formatting of pages in your document. To change formatting in a document, insert a section break at the beginning of where you want the change. Set up the formatting change just past the new section break.
