David Morrell (born April 24, 1943) is a Canadian-American author whose debut 1972 novel First Blood, later adapted as the 1982 film of the same name, went on to spawn the successful Rambo franchise starring Sylvester Stallone.
David Morrell is the award-winning author of First Blood, the novel in which Rambo was created. He was born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. In 1960, at the age of seventeen, he became a fan of the classic television series, route 66, about two young men in a Corvette convertible traveling the United States in search of America and themselves.
The mild mannered don with the bloody minded visions as called by one reviewer, David Morrell is the author of over thirty books, including such top action thrillers as The Spy Who Came For Christmas that is set in Santa Fe, where Morrell lives, the Naked Edge, and Creepers.
Osvary David Morrell Gutierrez Jr. (born January 18, 1998) is a Cuban professional boxer. He has held the WBA (Regular) super middleweight title since 2021. As an amateur, he won gold medals at the 2016 Youth World Championships and the 2017 Cuban National Championships.

David Morrell. Writer: First Blood. David Morrell was born in 1943, shortly after his father was killed in action. His mother could not both raise him and have a job, so David was sent to an orphange. He went to Pennsylvania State University from 1966-70, where he was inspired by his teacher, writer William Tenn.
