Gojira is a French heavy metal band from Ondres.Founded as Godzilla in 1996, the band's lineup—brothers Joe (lead vocals, rhythm and lead guitar) and Mario Duplantier (drums), Christian Andreu (lead and rhythm guitar), and Jean-Michel Labadie (bass)—has been the same since the band changed its name to Gojira in 2001.

This is where Gojira really became the Godzilla of metal. 2008's The Way of All Flesh is a transcendent opus that showcases the quartet's progressive death-metal sound at arguably both its proggiest and deathiest, with punishing riffing, ferocious vocals and complex song structures.

- Magma (2016) Written in tribute to the Duplantiers’ late mother, Magma is where Gojira really stepped into a more sombre and achingly melodic realm. The funeral procession-like march of opener The Shooting Star showed that this would be a very different record than what had come before.
- Fortitude (2021) The five year gap that followed 2016’s Magma only served to ratchet up the expectation for a follow-up, and Fortitude delivered. Here, Gojira channelled Magma’s experimentalism into what can only be described as The Fucking Hit Factory.
