Soul Sand makes water, items, bubbles, and the player rise while Magma Blocks cause them all to sink... Shouldn't it be the other way around? Heat causes water and air to rise, so shouldn't it work that way in Minecraft as well?
Make sure you have a water source on every block on top of it. Can't miss one or it will stop bubbling! I've checked everything, making sure that a water source is on the block as well. But it just gives a small amount of bubbles.
