Horseradish Shrimp
Food.com
I resurrected an old appetizer recipe today that I hadn't used in several years. I used to make these frequently when we had our back yard barbecues. Well, hubby and friends gave them rave reviews! I guess they are back on the "official barbecue menue" at our house. (I usually double the recipe because they do go fast!) Prep time does not include 2 hour refrigeration time.
Pacific Rim Salmon

I came across this recipe in a local fundraiser cookbook. We made some slight adjustments to it since then, but it is a great recipe to use when grilling. It's a favorite summer meal. —Amy Sauser, Omaha, Nebraska
Horseradish-crusted Salmon
Food52
This salmon is delicious hot, cold or room temperature. The horseradish flavor mellows when cooked and the dish is great served at brunch with pickled cucumber and onion on the side, or at dinner with wild rice flavored with dried fruit and nuts and a caesar salad. As simple as it is, this is a wonderful, elegant holiday dish - easily made ahead and beautiful when presented whole on a bed of baby spinach. To most easily remove the fish to a serving platter in one piece, bake it on a non-stick surface. For a larger, 4 lb filet, make 1.5 times the recipe for topping. www.susanbookercatering.com

Bloody Mary (By the Pitcher)
Food.com
My husband brought this recipe to me from our local paper last weekend. He is a Bloody Mary lover and I wouldn't want this one to get away. Dan'l says this recipe is a winner!! Why make one glass, when you can make a pitcher full? This recipe makes 4-5 pint sized servings.
Mom's potato salad with a twist (of lemon)
Food52
This is basically my mother's recipe (like most of my recipes it is more of a "not recipe") which I've made with many variations over the years. It ascended to the next level recently when I added lemon rind. The perhaps eccentric feature of her recipe is the sprinkle of fortified wine on the potatoes at the beginning; the other ingredients are more standard. I like to lighten the mayo with yogurt but you can use all mayo as my mother did. You can switch other of the suggested ingredients in or out if you don't like them or don't have them on hand, but for the principle kick keep the vermouth, the sweet pepper relish, and the lemon.
Horseradish and Everything Bagel Fried Chicken
Food52
We live in Los Angeles where good bagels are a rarity but are lucky enough to live near the best bagel place in town, Brooklyn Bagels on Beverly. If you go in on a weekday and ask nicely, the woman at the front will give you the contents of the bottom of the everything bagel bin which I used to put on my husband's bagel and cc. And then when I couldn't find enough panko this recipe was born. The horseradish and ricotta make it a great, crunchy, spicy chicken.
The Garbage Plate (Burger Version)
Food.com
If you are from the Rochester area that phrase would make your mouth water. This is any drunk college kids best friend. It is a mixture of meat, carbs, and more carbs piled onto a foam container found in Nick Tahou's and "hots" food joints all over the Rochester area. For about 6 bucks (including tip) you get this plate plus a soda, not too shabby. They have a veggie version, fish, and my favorite--the white hot version. When I left the Rochester to go to school the first thing I would do when I came home was got to a "hots" and order a garbage plate. Also dont expect to finish this unless you are drunk. For more info on this delicious dish go to wikipedia.org and search garbage plate. (I put the direct link on here before but it messed up the rest of the recipe for some reason, so youre gonna have to do it the hard way lol) Also times are approx. if you make your own sauce or not. Also to speed things up I use Recipe #226112 for the potatoes. This recipe is scaled to one, but it can really feed at least four people.... but whats the fun in sharing a garbage plate??
Ham and Broccoli Roll-ups
Taste of Home
WHEN our two children went away to school, I had to learn how to adjust my recipes for just my husband and me. There were too many leftovers! I started gathering recipes with smaller amounts, and my daughter was on the lookout for me, also. This is one she sent, and I make it often. -Eleanor Carroll, Ellicott City, Maryland
