May 28, 2020 · Entropion in Dogs: Surgery. Entropion surgery is corrective eyelid surgery under general anesthesia. It’s similar to the “eye lift” cosmetic surgery in humans. To have the lid roll out properly, a section of dog’s skin — usually in a half-moon shape — is removed from beneath or above the affected eyelid and sutured.
The treatment for entropion is surgical correction. A section of skin is removed from the affected eyelid to reverse its inward rolling. In many cases, a primary, major surgical correction will be performed, and will be followed by a second, minor corrective surgery later.
An entropion repair is surgery to correct a condition in which the eyelid rolls inward and allows hair to rub on the eye. Entropion is uncomfortable for pets and causes soreness, redness, and irritation of the eye.
