Yakima is the largest city in Yakima County with a population of about 98,000. That makes it the 11th largest city in Washington State. Most of the people who founded Yakima were of European descent, although significant numbers of African-Americans and Asian-Americans homesteaded here as well.

Yakima is located in Central Washington, approximately a 3-hour drive from Portland and just over 2 hours from Seattle. The Yakima Valley area consists of numerous cities, towns, and villages. My visit covered Yakima, Prosser, Union Gap, Toppenish, and Wapato.
