After making a series of bad choices, Christy Plunkett, a newly sober single mother, is trying to get her life together as a person and a mother to Roscoe and Violet. Unfortunately, she finds this to be a challenge when her estranged mother, Bonnie, comes back into her life.
The show opens with newly sober Christy Plunkett during one of her shifts as a waitress at the Rustic Fig. As she pours two glasses of the house's Napa Chardonnay, she cries hysterically, explaining to the couple that they may experience hints of vanilla and caramel with a velvety smooth finish. The man inquires if she is okay, to which she replies...
