Located in the heart of Coastal Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay, Norfolk is a city of mermaids anchored by a vibrant downtown and steeped in maritime history. The city’s rich and proudly diverse culture flows through its museums, burgeoning performing and visual arts scenes and fabulous festivals.
Fast Norfolk Facts. Norfolk Virginia is a city of some 235,000 residents and encompasses 66 square miles. It has seven miles of Chesapeake Bay beachfront and a total of 144 miles of shoreline along our lakes, rivers, and the Bay. Much of this land is located in residential neighborhoods.
