Feb 22, 2013 · I walked on the Philipsburg boardwalk on three separate days in March 2024. I walked to Bobby’s Marina on one end and past the Windmall on the other end. There were many shops and restaurants. I stopped at the Holland House, a pharmacy and a French gourmet shop. Also, across from the Courthouse is a small pier with a nice shop.
- Explore the Town of Philipsburg. Before taking a taxi tour of the island, it’s best to start with a brief walking tour of the nearby town of Philipsburg.
- Great Bay Beach. The first beach you will come across on the island is Great Bay beach which is readily accessible from the boardwalk. This is the most convenient beach for a cruiser not wanting to wander far from the cruise terminal as it’s located just a short distance from the cruise port.
- Tour of the Island. A quick tour of the island with all its highlights is the best way to explore St. Maarten. The tour can be done through a boat excursion around the island’s coastline with brief stops in major tourist areas.
