Feb 28, 2013 · Some of the servants (eg Mr Carson, Mrs Patmore, Anna and Sarah O'Brien) speak with northern accents (either Yorkshire or Lancashire). And there is dialog and/or plot that identifies Branson as Irish and John Bates as Scottish.

I think the majority of servants have watered-down northern accents. Thomas and Mrs Patmoore sound Mancunian to me. Daisy and Anna sound more like they’re from Yorkshire, but Mr Mason sounds more authentic Yorkshire.
Apr 28, 2013 · Those links fill things out pretty well: Downton is ostensibly in North Yorkshire (near Ripon, so you can imagine it being where Fountains Hall is) and the accents of the servants more or less come from Yorkshire and environs, with a few exceptions further up the hierarchy where there's a bit more mobility on display.

Have you ever watched ‘Downton Abbey’? Did you have any problems with speech recognition? What can you recommend to improve understanding accents?
I generally headcanon that most Servants have some sort of accent. The accent is mostly based on the Heroic Spirit's birthplace/nationality, but it can change based on their legend or what that particular incarnation represents.
Waver and all the people at the clock tower have American accents, but Luvia, who should be Finnish has a British accent. I think it would be really cool to see Fate, or any media really, with accents that actually match the character's origins.
